Outdoor Wall Pack Lighting
If you're in need of high-quality, yet affordable wall
packs, you've come to the right place. led high bay offers a wide selection of wall pack lighting that includes metal
halide, high-pressure sodium, and LED. Choose from a variety of bulb shapes,
Lumen outputs, brands, and other features to find the right wall pack to meet
your needs. Our selection of wall packs also includes DLC rated options for
utility rebates where available and full cutoff fixtures that decrease light
pollution. led high bay
is an excellent solution for outdoor security purposes and
parking lots. With durable features such as a shatter-resistant polycarbonate
or glass lens, tamper-proof die-cast aluminum housing, and either UL listed or
IP65 rated for wet locations, these wall packs are designed to protect each
fixture from vandalism and bad weather. Pair with timers or photocells for
hassle free bright night time lighting and energy savings during the day
without needing to worry about manually turning the fixture on and off.
Color Temperature Options for Wall Pack Lights
Metal halide fixtures emit a cool white light around 4000
Kelvin which helps reduce eye strain. Our HPS wall packs are an excellent
lighting option for smaller areas and produce a very warm, almost yellow, light
around 2100 Kelvin that is less disruptive to nocturnal animals. Our led high bay outdoor light fixtures are available in either
4000 Kelvin or 5000 Kelvin options. Both color temperatures have been shown to
increase night time visibility.
HID vs. LED Wall Pack Fixtures
led high bayhave higher initial
Lumen ratings than equivalent LED fixtures and feature an internal aluminum
reflector to better direct the light outward. Metal halide and high pressure
sodium lamps are typically omni-directional meaning the light is emitted in all
directions: top, sides, and bottom. However, the wall mounted light fixtures
are not omni-directional meaning roughly 30% of the lamp's Lumen output is lost
within the reflector. These types of lamps also lose Lumens quickly over time.
Comparatively, led high bay wall packs are
designed to have a more directional beam angle than metal halide and high
pressure sodium wall pack fixtures so no light is lost within the fixture.
These fixtures also do not lose Lumens in the same way, meaning the brightness
stays consistent longer and need to be replaced far less frequently. Don't let
the Lumen numbers confuse or discourage you when comparing the different
technologies, and don't hesitate to give our lighting experts a call if you
have any questions led high bay are also a good choice for those wanting high efficiency,
energy-saving lighting. These low Watt fixtures consume less energy than their
HID equivalents and are much more likely to be DLC rated.
How to Install a Wall Pack
Our wall pack fixtures are designed for hardwire
installation meaning they operate directly off line voltage, typically 120-277V.
These fixtures mount directly to the wall via a junction box. Some of our wall
packs have mounting hardware included, so look for that when comparing products
to find the right setup for your needs. Wall packs may also include an optional
shade that can be installed to better direct the light downward and decrease
light pollution. 1000Bulbs.com also offers led high bay wall packs that are Dark
Sky compliant, eliminating any light lost above the fixture.
If you're ready to upgrade to energy-efficient led high bay but don't want to replace
the entire fixture, are a good alternative. Most of these kits are essentially
LED lights that screw into the existing fixture in place of the led high bay. They are available as
either direct wire bulbs that require bypassing the ballast or as a
plug-and-play that operates with the existing ballast. For plug-and-play LED
retrofits, be sure to check the spec sheet for a list of ballasts tested and
approved for use with the bulb before purchasing.
Pairing Wall Packs with Photocells and Motion Sensors
Any outdoor lighting can benefit from the addition of
photocells and motion sensors. Wall packs are no exception, but there are
several facts, tips, and tricks that need to be considered before purchasing
and adding photocontrols to your lighting system led high bay. If you live in the
northern hemisphere, you're photocells, also known as dusk to dawn sensors,
should face north whenever possible. North-facing light sensors allow for the
most balanced on/off schedule based on the arc of the sun. If pointed west, it
will turn on and off late and vice versa for east-facing light sensors.
Photocells facing the south will be exposed to the most direct sunlight which
can burn out the components and cause premature failure. If you want your
lights to come on early or late, we recommend pointing the light sensor
northeast or northwest, respectfully. The opposite is true south of the equator.
It's important to note, when upgrading to led high bay, your dusk to dawn
sensors must be compatible with LEDs in order to operate properly. If using a
conventional photocell, be sure to replace it with one rated for use with led high bay. While conventional
light sensors will still work with LED fixtures at first, they will burn out
prematurely. The same is true for motion sensors.
